You have been dating her for the past couple of years and have finally gathered the courage to admit to yourself that this is the girl you would like to spend the rest of your life with. You know she feels the same and is simply waiting for you to go down on one knee to propose. You are nervous, but sure, and want to take all the efforts to ensure that everything is in place before you pop the question.
To make things easier for you, we have a list of things that you will have sort out before you wait with bated breath for her answer:
- A ring-The symbol of your bond and promise to each other – a ring. It needs to be bought before time. You can choose from the hundreds of stunning diamond rings available online for the one that matches the brilliance of your relationship. Make sure you have her ring size; you could discreetly take one of her rings and get the proposal ring resized according to that.
- Permission from her parents-Now, this can be a tricky task to accomplish. Seek the permission of her parents and their blessings. If possible, invite them on the proposal day if you wish to make it a public affair. Unless you want to forever live with the wrath of the girl’s parents, ensure that you have the permission before the proposal, and not inform them about the engagement after the event.
- The way to propose-How exactly would you like to propose? Under the stars and sky while you’re out camping? Or in the middle of a restaurant when she finds the ring in her cake? Do you want her friends and family to be in attendance, or do you want it to be an intimate event? Whatever it is that you wish to do, ensure that you have it planned days or even weeks in advance as you will need to send out invites, make reservations, align your schedule with the girl’s, and much more. There is a lot that goes into planning a perfect proposal. However, do remember that it is your commitment that matters and not the way you propose. So, it’s okay even if you propose to her in the middle of the kitchen, dressed in your gym clothes, as long as the proposal comes from the heart!
- Capturing it for posterity-You would like to relive the moment when she said, “yes”, wouldn’t you? That’s why it’s a good idea to either hire a photographer, or have one of the friend’s assigned the duty of recording the whole sequence. If it’s going to be just the two of you, maybe you could have a video camera or your phone’s camera placed in such a way that it captures all the beautiful moments!
Lastly, ensure that you keep your wits about you when you finally propose!
